Found this chair on the street while I was moving out from Sharon Street. Really nice chair. The seat and back rest has a nasty cream vinyl upholstery. The armrest is made of wood and the legs are metal. The back rest swivels and the rest of the chair seems to be in pretty good shape. I'm going to try and reupholster with some new and more modern fabric. Will post after pictures when it is done.

New Beginnings

So it's been a while since I've posted anything meaningful on this blog. Like most people that starts a blog. I had all the intentions of blogging regularly. Sharing thoughts and ideas or just to maybe use this as a diary in some ways. I would've loved to say that my life was that exciting and hectic that I didn't have time to post regularly but all is untrue. I guess I just got lazy and slacked off and the posts just got less and less along the way and eventually stopped. Even though my life wasn't that busy or hectic a lot has happened in this hiatus from this blog. In my professional work and in my personal life. As the title of this post suggest. It's a new beginning in my life and for this blog. I have loads of new ideas for projects on jewelry, clothes and design in general so stay tuned. Orange Catherine Holm Fondue!

As you know from my previous posts that I am a collector of Catherine Holm fondue pots. I have about 10 of them! I just love the round space age shape. Of course you don't just have to use it for making fondue. It's really useful for serving or just holding knick knacks in. New Jewelry!

So it's been awhile since my last blog. Finnegan is doing much better now. He's pretty much back to normal except he doesn't run as fast as he use to. I guess he has to let his skin around his left hind leg to stretch out a bit more. I am so glad he is better!
Anyways, here's Quigley wearing what is the beginning of my new jewelry collection. It is inspired by a hornets nest that we found on our old kitchen window. You can see a picture of the actual nest on an old blog. So what Quigley is wearing is wearing is not actually the new jewelry but part of the components. The white square is just a piece of styrofoam that I am using to create clusters to see how they look. The clusters are made from sterling silver cones that are hand crimped to make hexagon shapes and then clustered to make the hornets nest. I think these will be turned into rings and pendants and brooches. Let me know what you think of them.

Finnegan Update

So it's been about 2 weeks since Finnegan had his stitches taken out.
He is pretty much back to normal. The good news is that the vet felt
like she got a good enough margin around the tumor that he won't need
radiation. We just have to keep an eye on him and feel for anything
that might come back. Anyways that's it for now.

Wing Ring

Here is a ring that I made for my friend Jenny. She saw a ring she really liked in a store, but it was really expensive. It was a plain silver ring in the shape of a wing that wrapped around the finger. She also saw other rings that had gemstones in it and wanted to see if I can add gemstones to the ring. So this is my version of the wing ring with multi color gemstones. It is hand carved from a piece of Precious Metal Clay(PMC) and the gemstones are lab created. Not very good pictures but it'll do. I think I can probably improve on a couple of things on the ring too. You know how it is. Whne you make something for the first time. You always end up thinking "oh, I should've did this instead of this." Anyways we'll see how Jenny likes it.

Sicky Finnie Update

Finnegan had his Surgery last Wednesday 28th of May. I never thought how big the incision would be for removing the tumor. The vet kept saying that she will have to take a big margin around the tumor to make sure that she gets everything, but since the tumor felt like the size of a big peanut. I thought maybe the incision would be just 4 inches or so. Imagine my horror when the nurse brought Finnegan out and showed me his scar. My jaw dropped and I just wanted to burst out in tears and start crying. I felt so bad for him. So the reason for the incision being so big was that the tumor apparently was bigger than they thought and she basically had to remove a 6 inch by about 3 or 4 inch section of his skin and tissue. She also said that she was worried that she couldn't go too far underneath the tumor to get a good margin because the tumor was right on hi rib cage. Now Finnegan might need radiation. We're still waiting to hear back. In the meantime we are just sitting on the couch with Finnegan in his little travel bag that he loves. He's basically not allowed to run, jump, play or do anything that would cause the incision to open up. Oh yeah, that was the other thing. Because they took so much skin off, they had to stretch the skin to have it sewn together again and it was the only chance for the skin to heal properly. If it opened up then we would be in trouble. Anyways he's healing perfectly. The stitches will probably come off next week Wednesday. That's it for now. Will keep you posted if he needs radiation or not. We're just giving him lot's of hug and kisses . I think he's getting spoiled. Oh well, he deserves it.

So we got some bad news today from our vet :,( We had found this lump on Finnegan a couple of weeks ago and took him in to get it checked out. Today we got the results and they think it might be an aggressive type of cancerous tumor that can spread very quickly. We have to take him in on Friday to get an ultrasound to see if it had spread or not (fingers and toes very crossed) and if it hadn't then they will remove the lump and give him treatment. I just hope that everything is okay and they only have to remove the lump and that's it. Anyways I'll keep you guys posted on his progress.

Rocking Chair

So this is a rocking chair that we found on the street that one of our neighbors threw out. The back was still good, but the seat as you can see in the picture is blown out. The frame is great shape though. I am going to re-cane it with a bit more of an unconventional material than the regular caning for chairs. I will post pictures once I finished.

Okay, most of you that know me knows that I like food. I like going out to eat and I like cooking at home. I'm no professional chef or food critic or anything but I know what I like. When I go out to eat I don't expect the food to be 5 star restaurant quality or anything. As long as it's tasty I am fine. Also the service counts too. If the foods good but you get shitty service. It ruins the whole experience. You know what I mean?
So it was my friend's birthday and we wanted to have a nice Champagne brunch for her. We picked Juliette on N 5th St and Bedford cause they had Champagne and it was a place we have never been to. This place is suppose to be a French bistro type of place. I've seen this place and it looks nice from the outside so maybe the food is good. I was wrong. I mean the food wasn't bad or anything. I've had better. I had ordered the Minute Steak. Which I guess means a small steak with fries. The steak was tiny. I ordered it medium rare but got medium well and it was a bit chewy and kind of grainy. The fries were very hard. It was kind or like it was fried and then re-fried again. Anyways all that I can overlook but the kicker was. I had made my Grand Marnier Tofu cheese cake for her and brought it to have as dessert. We asked our waiter if we can get some plates for serving at which poiut he told us that there would be a plating fee which would be $2.50 per person. There were 11 of us so it would have been $27 for them to give us some plates and forks. We were like okay, just because it my friends birthday and we wanted to celebrate it with a cake. Anyways our waiter left and then came back to let us know that instead of the $2.50 plating fee it would be a $5.00 service fee per person. We were like are you kidding me? FORGET IT! It wasn't even like the place was that busy. I've been to restaurants where they were okay if you brought a birthday cake and was happy to serve it for you without a fee. At this point I was really over it. Then my friend tells me that he had called them earlier to make reservation and had asked if he can bring a bottle of champagne that his wife(my friends birthday)liked, but they wanted a $25 corkage fee.
All in all this has been one of my worst restaurant experiences. I would never go back to this place and wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends. I guess want was I expecting around Bedford. I mean there are only a handful of restaurants around Bedford that have really good food and service without the attitude. The rest are just crappy restaurants that goes after the trendies that goes there to hangout and to be seen. Now you know I'm pissed if I'm ranting about something on this blog. I usually don't complain about much but I am so over these restaurants that pretend to be something that they're not. They all have these gimicky decor and menues and all they're trying to do is hide they're shitty food. Okay okay. I've had my say. No more ranting. Hope everyone else had a good weekend.

Birthday Desserts! ( part 2 1/2 )

I kind of over did it on this recipe. Hehe... This recipe was meant for a rectangular glass baking dish and serves 8, so I decided to make then into individual mini cheesecakes for easier distribution. Don't have to bring the dish and have to worry about cutting and stuff. So I tripled the recipe, 8 servings per recipe so 3x8 is 24. I should get about 24 mini cheesecakes and did I get 24 mini cheesecakes? Of course and 2 large rectangular glass baking dish size as well! I guess we'll have to figure out how to finish them. First rule of thumb for a cook is to always taste everything before you serve it. Needed to make sure that it's okay. Maybe I should taste all the other ones just to be totally sure. Just kidding.

The weather yesterday was amazing. It was so nice to just have a day where you didn't have to bundle up to leave the house. Anyways we sat on our stoop for awhile and enjoyed the weather. So our friend birthday is today and I wanted to make him some birthday desserts. Couldn't make up my mind on which dessert to make. The Grand Marnier Tofu Cheesecake or the Spiced Chocolate Pudding. Over the weekend we had our friend Lalana's dog Thomas with us for 4 days. Finnegan and Quigley had loads of fun with him. Of course after Thomas left, Paul and I decided that two dogs is enough. Even though they are not very big dogs they are a hand full. With two you can carry one in each arm to go up and down the stairs, but with three you kind of have to take two down and then go back to get the third. Lets just say that it kind of screws up the whole balance. Anyways you can't really tell who's who in the picture but there is three dogs running around on the couch. The last picture is Thomas giving Quigley a bit of a lick...:)

Here's a look at some new jewelry I'm working on. Much more delicate with gemstones. 3 piece set with earrings and pendant. These are made of .999 pure silver that has been filed down to a cone shape and then hollowed out at one end and then attached with a small blue sapphire at the end. It also has a brushed finish, instead of a mirror finish. Let me know what you think.

We were in London visiting our friends Niall and Nigel and Ollie (see post below) for 3 days late February. This is the "Tower Bridge" and it was brought to my attention that most Tourists think that this is the London Bridge. Even Fergie's music video for "London Bridge" was shot on this bridge. Even now when you google London Bridge. Most of the images that comes up are of this bridge. Talk about mistaken identity. Now you know.

Ceramic Dog Head!

I know you're probably thinking that there is no more room on the wall for another head, but who can pass this one up? It actually looks like a dachshund. As you know I have 2 very cute wiredhaired dachshund so how can I not? Wish the ceramic heads look more like them, but I guess I'll have to take what I can get. Actually I didn't even know that they made ceramic dog head towel holders. Maybe there's more different ones out there. Who knows? Going to have to keep an eye out for them and make more room on the wall! Ahhhh!

Hi everyone. Sorry! It's been awhile since my last blog entry. Had one of those "I'm too tired and I don't want to do anything" kind of streaks, but I am back with lots of new things that I will be blogging about in the coming weeks. Ebay items, art, jewelry, crafts, and travels.

Anyways here's my first blog. This is our friends Niall and Nigel's dog Ollie. They live in London. We had the chance to pop over for a quick 3 day visit while I was in Ireland in February. Ollie is very sweet and mellow. He looks exactly as he is in the picture. Very cute! The picture below his is the woodgrain art piece that I made of Ollie. I will be sending that over to Niall and Nigel as a thank you present for letting us stay at their place while we were over. Hope we weren't too much trouble.

Last night was the last class of my metalsmith class that I was taking at SVA. I have to say I really enjoyed the classroom environment. It gets me motivated to get off my butt to make something. Anyways I'll be taking the next class starting in September. It's been fun. Here's my last project that I made in class. Was in a bit of a hurry since the first project took up most of the semester and this project took 2 classes to make. So it's a little messy. Let me know what you think.

New Obsession!

While I was browsing through ebay one day. Paul asked me to look up some ceramics by Villeroy & Boch called Acapulco. Paul told me that his family use to have these when he was a kid. I fell in love with the bright colors and pattern immediately. Of course with the resent popularity of anything retro the prices for these ceramics were outrageous. You can look to pay $40 or $50 per dinner plate. Of course you can find deals but not too many though. Also you have to factor in shipping. Since it's ceramic and breakable and heavy. They'd have to pack it really well and that increases shipping cost. Anyways I finally won my first pieces, a sugar bowl w/lid and creamer. It's really cute! Hope this doesn't get outta hand. Oh well.

Metalsmith

So I've been taking a metalsmithing class at SVA for the last month or so. I figured I might as well learn something new while I'm still young. I started the class at the beginning of June and it ends at the end of July. It's been going great. The class meets once a week from 6:00 to 9:30 pm. So far I've learned how to solder 2 pieces of metal together, shape, saw, polish, pickle, anneal ing silver, and create little round beads from pure silver. Also I've learned how to set a cabochon into a ring. I've just finished our first project which is to create a ring using all the techniques that we've learned and here are the pictures. Off to design the next project which I will have to post once I'm done. A bit scary since we only have 2 classes left.

Forest Animals

Two posts in 1 day. Could you believe it? Anyways this is a quicky. Since my posting of my Woodgrain Studio Forest. There were lots of comments and requests for woodland animals. Let's just say I intended to add some animals after I was done with the forest but I kind of got over the porject really fast. You know how it is. Once your done with something you kind of have to sit back and look at a awhile before you can make changes to it. Anyways here are some of the animals. My solution to the permenant animals on the forest are to frame each one so I can inter change them every once in a while. Let me know what you think. I will post more as I make them up.

Hi everyone! It's been a while since my last blog. Been lazy and the heat did not help one bit. Just been hanging out with Finnegan and Quigley. Trying to stay cool. Also I wasn't working on anything interesting so there wasn't much to blog about. Not anymore. There's loads going on now that I'm kind of out of my lazy slump. I am reupholstering a chair that I found a long time ago. I think I found it way before I found my office chair. Here are some pictures of the chair the way it was found. Could be an interesting project. We'll see how it turns out. Notice the shiny pleather. Imagine sitting on that in this humidity. Sttiiiicccccky! Anyways I will post the after pics once I am done. I am waiting for the supplies I ordered 2 weeks ago. Hopefully it gets here soon so I can get started!

So I've been away for the past ten days in San Leandro, California hanging out with my family. My little sister had her graduation from San Leandro High School on June 12th. I had to be there for the big day. I am very proud of her. It was actually a very fun and relaxing trip this time. Ten days was a bit much though. You know how it is with family. Especially a big family. It can get pretty hectic and stressful some times, but it was good to be there for my little sister. The time went by so fast. Would've been nice to spend a little more time with my sister. Anyways here's some pictures.

Studio Table!

After hours of BACK BREAKING hard work. The table is finally finished, but not stained yet. It turned out pretty much how I imagined it but there are some technical difficulties along the way and in the end. The table top is made up of 4-3 1/2" wide x 75" long oak boards. It is pretty sturdy except for the legs. The legs are another story. They were suppose to be curved like those fancy antique dining tables except it's flat. The legs were cut from a piece of 8" x 30" oak board. I got 2 legs out of each board. Anyways it was pretty hard to cut them out the same exact size. So the legs are pretty much different sizes. Without the proper equipments you'd just have to wing it. I don't know how the professionals do it. I guess they don't call them professionals for nothing. I also never accounted for the wobble factor. So the legs are a bit wobbly. Oh well I guess you live and learn. Let me know what you think.

Irish Puppies!

I know it's a bit late for St. Patrick's Day, but who could resist a cute little leprechaun outfit for the doggies. Our friends Angelo, Nigel and Niall were in Dublin a couple of weeks ago and got these outfits for Finnegan and Quigley. Now I know they're not Irish cause they came all the way from Texas on a plane no less, but with names like Finnegan and Quigley. They might as well be. We'll se how many times they will put it on before they get a hold of it and rip it apart. At least we have pictures of them wearing it. Enjoy!

Woodgrain Chair!

Here's the chair that I re-upholstered. It turned out pretty good I think. A bit too orange, but I think it gives the room a bit of a kick with the bright color. The only worry it that the fabric is a thin cotton so it won't be hardwearing. I might have to replace it in a couple of months. Oh well. I'll probably get sick of it anyways. That's it for now. Next is the desk for the studio!

Woodgrain Forest!

My woodgrain contact paper finally arrived on Tuesday night. Can I just say I was very excited to get started with my studio forest that I put 1 tree up that night. I bought 5 different patterns so I can make all the trees different but a couple of the patterns were not very attractive so I ended up only using 2 to make the trees and the rest to make leaves. I also added a stump under the window. Here are the pictures of the tress. Let me know what you think. It does make the room feel small now, but I like it!

I just received my orange woodgrain fabric today and am very excited to get the project started. Here are the before pictures. The chairs a bit of a reck. The original fabric is very faded and the legs are a bit rusty. Might just have to get a can of spray paint. Okey dokey will post newly finished chair soon. NOT TOMORROW!

Studio After a Coat of Paint

Finally! After a hard days work and a coat of paint the studio is ready for some furniture and accessories. One of the wall is a little bit darker since I didn't have enought light blue for the whole room. It took forever to cover that orange door that Paul painted. The slats made it hard to get to the little nooks and cranny. Nothing like a bit of perseverance to get the job done. ALRIGHT! I'm making it sound harder than it is. But painting does take a lot of patience. Anyways the curtains were there from before. Not sure if they will go with the rest of the room when the furniture goes in. Might have to paint over the gold on the ceiling fan??? The bookcase were unfinished wood that I painted. I know I said I was into woodgrain but they were just too big and it would've made the room feel small. I painted the outside of the bookcase the same color as the room to make it blend but then the inside a darker blue to give it depth. Anyways that's all for now. Stay tuned for more studio reno. Off to pick up wood for my work bench tomorrow and come up with a design!

Studio Before PIctures

So here are the pictures of the studio before I do anything to it. Notice all the different colors on the wall. Paul couldn't decide which color to paint the studio so he painted patches of different colors on the walls to see if he likes it. Anyways I already made up my mind what color to paint the studio. Since the upstairs is very humid and warm in the summer, I wanted a color that's going to make it feel cooler. I'm going to paint it a light blue color. I will post pictures tomorrow of the newly painted room.

Woodgrain

So recently I've been really into woodgrains. Anything from fabric to contact paper to even stainless steel table with woodgrain embossed on it. I guess that's the trend right now. Anyways last week Paul and I decided to exchange studios. So he'll be downstairs in the basement/den and I'll be upstairs in the midget room. What I've decided to do is to create some trees on the long wall with some wood grain contact papers. Also I found a great office chair on the street a while ago that I'm going to reupholster with a orange and red woodgrian fabric that I bought on ebay( last pic ). I will post some before pictures before I start so everyone can see. Hopefully it turns out the way I imagined it!

I know! I've been slacking a bit on my blog. Oh well. What can you do? It's hard to think of interesting things to blog about everyday. Haven't been bidding on anything on ebay recently so not much to talk about. I think I have enough ceramic heads to fill the empty space on the wall. It's Sunday already and almost the middle of May! Before you know it, it'll be June and summer will be in full swing. I can't believe how time pasts so fast. Mary, Paul's mom arrived on Tuesday for a short visit from Dublin. Way too short! She left on Friday night but we had a blast. Mary did loads of shopping. Well not all shopping. We did other stuff too. I was out with the pair for only 2 days and I am totally exhausted. I'm probably recked for the rest of the month. Just kidding! Anyways on Thursday we went up to the Cloisters in Fort Tryon. What an amazing place. The hike through the park is great. All I know is it's part of the Metropolitan Museam and that the place incorporates pieces of different churches brought over from Europe mainly France and then put together. You'll have to see it for yourself. Lot's of Medieval art and sculptures and tapestry.

What can I say? There's not enough words that can describe this beautiful city. Right from the moment the train reaches the outskirts of the city. You get a glance of this floating city that seems to rise from the water. Cars are not allowed in Venice so the only way to get around is on foot or the vaporettos (water buses). On foot is the best way to explore this city's every nook and cranny. There are so many wonders that you can discover around every corner. It would take more than a lifetime to discover this city.

Friday was such a beautiful day and luckily I didn't have to go into work! I could work on my terrariums. It actually wasn't too hard to plant the terrariums. You just have to make sure that the soil drains very well and lots of light. Don't want to get into too much detail or I'll just bore everybody to sleep. We were in Paris about 6 months ago and I had the most amazing time. It was my first time in Paris and I didn't know what to expect. Paris is such an amazing city. The history, the architectures, the art, and the food. OMG! Don't even get me started on all the delicious food. It is so hard to explain the feeling you get. So much to do and see. Fondue?

I just received my ceramic rabbit head towel hook holder today and it is fantastic! It's such a great piece. Now I know why it's been so hard to find and people pay such high price for it. Anyways I'm going to wait awhile and see if I bid on more heads before I hang it up on the wall.

For those of you who don't know. I have this other "obsession" which are my Catherineholm fondue sets. These aren't your typical fondue sets. They are from the 70's and they are in a really cool round sphere shape. I have about 10 of them but only 6 are complete or almost complete sets. The last one I bought was probably about a year ago, but I am still looking for that elusive color. You know how it is about collecting. You always have to have all the available colors and or shapes that they comes in. Anyways I've been looking for the very rare red color for these fondue sets. The last time I saw one on ebay was about 2 years ago and have not seen since. If anybody see's it or have any info. Let me know.

Rescue Me! Part Deux

Okay, so it's been 2 days since the crew from Rescue Me took over our little street called Sharon Street. I think it was more excitement than any of our neighbors can handle. It was exciting at first to have all these giant trailers parted outside our house and film crews walking up and down the street. I thought maybe there was going to be some great scenes shot on the street, but they ended up shooting everything inside #30 Sharon Street. Anyways we were hanging outside all day to see if there would be any sightings of the stars, but there was none. Oh well! They say they might be back next month to shoot another scene or something. Maybe then we'll have a sighting.

P.S. The snack tent didn't look very appetising. It was mainly junk foods like chips and beef sticks and stuff like that. No real food or that I can see. Anyways just a thought.

Finally! After months of surfing ebay. I've finally won a bidding war for a ceramic rabbit head towel hook holder. This is the most expensive head I've bought so far. Final price $31. Most of the other heads that I've won all cost around $10-$15. If you don't know yet, this head is to add to the ceramic head collection from the 2nd post of this blog. I also won another ceramic pig head on ebay for $3. Of course with shipping and handling. The total came to $10. Now, I know everyone is thinking that I'm obsessed with these heads and I'm not. I just think they're cool and there's still space on the wall so just a couple more. Okay? Anyways here's some pics of my winnings. Until tomorrow.

Rescue Me!

NYC Dachshund Spring Fiesta 2

So today was the Dachshund Spring Fiesta. It was unbelievable how many dachshunds was there. All shapes and sizes and colors. It was fantastic! Of course Finnegan had loads of fun and Quigley was a bit more timid and shy. Met loads of cute puppies, but in the end our puppies are the cutest! To us anyways. There were loads of cute puppies. I wish we could have another but 2 is already a hand full. Anyways here's some pictures to share.

NYC Dachshund Spring Fiesta

So, I am very excited for tomorrow! It is the NYC's Dachshund Spring Fiesta or Parade or whatever you want to call it. Which is held bi-annually at Washington Square Park. They meet up at noon under the arch. We have never been so this will be our very first time. Supposedly there's going to be hundreds of other dachshunds of all shape and sizes. I am sure Finnegan and quigley will be very excited as well. They will probably make lots of friends. Can't wait to see how they react. Don't think they know what they're in for yet. Spring!

Hurray! Spring is finally here and I don't have to go to work. I am so happy. Just sitting on the front stoop with Quigley and Finnegan. Hearing to the birds chirp and feeling the light breeze blowing throught the naked trees and the dinging of the windchimes. Ahhh.....nothing can get better than this. It feels like I am on vacation except in Brooklyn. Other than that the rumbling of the trucks and the clanking of the construction site and the roar of the airplanes over head bring you back real quick. Oh well! It was nice for a minute anyways.

I'm going back to bed now! Just kidding! Enjoy the beautiful weather..

Terrariums

Alright! I admit that sometimes I over do it on the purchases of certain things such as the ceramic heads or the fondue sets. I just get too obsessed with something and I have to get another and then another until my little obsession passes. Luckily my obsessions never too expensive. That's why I love ebay!

Paul's getting back into gardening now that Spring is here or supposedly here. I am not a gardener. I think it's because you have to plant things and then wait for them to grow. It's too much work. I just want to do something and see results instead of waiting around to see what happens. Anyways I wanted to try my hand at gardening also but in a different way. I've been seeing a lot blogs about terrariums. These little self containing environments after you put the plants in and put the cover on the whole thing takes care of it self and you only have to water it once every couple of weeks or never at all. Here's some terrariums that I bought on ebay. Yes, with my obsessions on over buying I bought 3 of each size. So we'll see what happens. I'll keep you guys posted.

So I had to go into work today. Which really sucked. Can't really complain though being off for 4 days. Anyways here is one of my recent but not the most recent purchases from ebay. It's a pair of owls. I think a mother and baby owl? Their heads are made of painted pottery or ceramic and their bodies are made from little circles of brass to simulate feathers and little brass feets. I bought them along with one of the white ceramic heads from the previous post below. They are signed at the bottom " Blazqueiz" or "Blazquez" or something like that. The seller actually emailed me to see if I had any information about it. He thought I bought it because it was worth something or I recognized the signature, I don't know. I actually bought it just because they were cute. Let me know what you think?

Brutti ma Buoni

It's raining again today and luckily I didn't have to go into work. Kind of getting cabin fever not leaving the house for 2 days. Good thing we were invited to our friends place for dinner tonight so we'll have to leave the house. Paul decided to make some ice cream to bring over to go with dessert and the recipe called for 9 egg yokes. There were going to be all these egg whites left over so I decided to find a recipe that calls for egg whites only to use them up. Almost all the recipes that I found were for some type of mousse cake or something like that. Or the other recipes were for meringues. I found a recipe from Mario Batali on the foodnetwork website for a cookie called "Brutti ma Buoni" which translates to "Ugly but Good". I was wondering how ugly can this cookie be and how good could it taste? So I decided to give it a go. The recipe calls for 7 large ege whites, 1 pound of sliced almonds, 2 1/2 cups of sugar, 1 tbs vanilla extract and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. This is the outcome! You be the judge as to if they're ugly or not and I guess since we made them we'll let you know how they taste.

They're not bad considering it's the first time I ever made them and also I'm not a big fan of meringues. They taste just like meringues except with almond slices. Anyways the next time I make them I wouldn't use the full recipe. You see how many there are! There should've been a warning on the recipe. Oh well. You bake you learn. Later.

Anyone who knows me, probably knows that I am an ebay JUNKIE! If you've ever been to our house you'd know. Almost all our knick knacks around the house are from ebay. Some might consider it junk but I just like them cause they're cute. Some are useful and some aren't. I never know what I'm going to do with whatever I'm bidding on, but somehow they just find a place somewhere. I just think they're cute or fun or whatever. You know what I mean. Here's something or somethings that I bought from ebay. They're not all from one seller. They were all from different sellers. It took about 2 months to acquire all of them. We finally put them up on the wall above the staircase. It took about 2 hours to put up but I have to say I did a pretty good job. Let me know what you guys think.

Finnegan. The sporty one in the family. He probably does more exercise than anyone else in the family. He chases the ball (only if someone is throwing it for him) from morning noon and night. From the moment he wakes up till we all go to bed.

Quigley! What can I say. The cutest face and the sweetest demeanor. He's always looking for a hug or a snuggle. He can spend his whole day in bed if you'd let him. Too cute!
